Two Year Blogaversary: A Short Letter

Dear Self and Readers,

Today marks my two year Blogaversary!

I started this blog as a venting process for an ended relationship, and as a way to relate my feeling to my favorite books or characters.

(Blogging is cheaper than therapy, homies.)

Now I do overviews of the books I read, and other posts like discussion topics, and interviews with other bloggers!

It’s been a long road, but I’m finally happy with where I am, blog-wise. I’ve made a commitment of posting once per week – no matter how busy my life is – and it’s working out for me! I stock pile book reviews and schedule posts like, “Today I’m Recommending…” and what I’ve found is: I AM HAVING SO MUCH FUN!

Before, I felt so pressure to do lengthy reviews and discussion posts and get a million ARCs like the bloggers who had been doing this since before I could talk. It was so unrealistic of me, and blogging started to suck. I’m so excited that I’ve found this rhythm.

I still don’t get a lot of traffic to each post, but I love doing it for ME and for those who do happen to read, and appreciate, them.

I didn’t think I would be this involved in the community two years ago. I’ve made friends through the OTSP Secret Sister group that I never would have otherwise! I go to events and pick up swag and even joined Bookstagram.

I can’t wait to see where I’m at this time next year!

xo

Around the World: One Character at A Time 1.0

Welcome to the 1st segment of… Around the World: One Character at A Time! Kathleen and I had been wanting to collaborate on a post for a few months now and when we started brainstorming, this turned out to be an idea we both wanted to run with! In fact, we had so much fun we wanted to make it a monthly thing!

Basically we took three of our favorite characters and decided which cities they most relate to or would live in…

Happy Birthday to Me

I’ve been doing this little blog shindig for a year now!

I haven’t been as consistent as I would have liked. I honestly didn’t think it would be as hard as it has been. Blogging has been something really new for me when I really needed something new. There are lots of pros to blogging, some that I knew going into this, and some that I found out later.

Free time? What’s that?

As writers, readers, bloggers, people, it’s hard to find time for things. When am I supposed to get blog posts up when I have professors breathing down my neck for a solid month waiting for fifteen page research papers? When am I supposed to read from my TBR pile when I spend the majority of each day at work? When am I supposed to work on my WIP when I am worried about grades, work, and blogging? *screams*

I decided not to worry about anything for the entire month of April because my professors decided it was finals month instead of finals week. Now, it’s summer. With university out of the way, I’ve got this weird elusive thing called…

free time

Uh, what am I supposed to do with this? Really only one thing was eliminated from my schedule but as a double major it feels more like ten things. So, uh, now I can do stuff? I can write and blog and read and bookstagram and knit and watch tv and not have to worry about essays and quizzes and my future???? Cool.
